Many videos and articles have brought me to tears about Moms and how we take them for granted. We should definitely celebrate the joy of Motherhood on that one designated day of the year, ideally every day but realistically it is a reminder that they are always there for us and we should spoil them.
Moms are often the photo takers, limited to selfies and they rarely have decent pictures of themselves with their child. Husbands / Partners I do urge you to take those pics of Mom and child, time passes so quickly we need photos to jog our memory and remember those amazing years that blast by in a hectic haze.
Treat yourself or your mom to a photoshoot to captures those memories. I love capturing the adoring looks that moms give their child, that connection is very special. Of course not all photoshoots go to plan but I am always able to capture the spirit of the child or the silly moments and I love it!
I created this Photo Gift Box to thank a client for her support and she loved it and I loved it so I thought I would make my first Do It Yourself / How to video so you can create a special gift for mom or anyone.

I have also decided to make one of these for anyone that books a Mommy and Me session, so contact me for available dates if you are interested. Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 13th 2018 so you better get booking.
I WANT THIS GIFT
You will need:-
Step 1 – Choose a Box and Size your Photos
Choose a box size and measure your photos. I picked up a wooden box from the dollar store which is approx 4 x 3 inches and I printed my photos, I measured them to be slight smaller then the inside of the box to have a nice border around it and cut them to size.
Tip: If you are getting prints and don’t like cutting then choose a box slightly bigger than 4×6 or choose a print size to fit your box, you can also add borders when you order the photos.
Step 2 – Measure the Paper and Cut to Size
Measure out and mark a fold in the card stock or thick paper to be just under 3 inches in height all the way down the paper so it will fit in the box and same for the length. Cut the length of the paper and trim any leftover bits at the bottom.
Tip: If you can double up the paper when you are cutting you can ensure the same size and have more photos.
Step 3 – Score or Fold the Paper
Use the marks to fold or score (if you have that option on your paper trimmer) the paper. Then bend in an opposite direction so it is concertina effect. If you did cut 2 pieces of paper, tape them together to make one long piece.
Step 4 – Glue or Tape the Photos onto the Paper
Then simply glue the photos onto to the paper in the middle so it has a border around it.
Tip: You can use double sided sticky tape or photo corners to each section too
Step 5 – Add a Tab to Pull out the Photos
Add a twine or ribbon loop to the top by creating a loop and sticking it to the back of the top of the paper.
Step 6 – Decorate your Box and Add Extras
Draw a picture or add a note to the inside of the box lid to personalise even more and decorate the outside if you like, you can also add a small gift under the photos for an extra surprise, a necklace would be perfect!
Tip: Try different boxes, sizes, messages
Voila! You have made a lovely easy personalized gift!
